Although YouTube is mostly known as a fantastic procrastination tool, it is also a useful source for information on dissertation writing.  The next time you go in search of a sneezing panda, check out the following (you can find each one by copying and pasting the bolded title into YouTube’s search box clicking on the links below):

  • Some Reflections on Writing, Especially Dissertations: This hour-long clip features a student interviewing a professor who has completed 3 dissertations and written 17 books.  He offers his advice on topics such as structure, organization, and writing tips.  This is a good video for beginning dissertation writers, but keep in mind that just because a particular strategy worked for this guy doesn’t mean another writing method won’t work for you.
  • The 48 Hour Dissertation: Think you’ll never finish? If this university student can write his 10,000 word dissertation in 48 hours while stopping frequently for television breaks, just think of what you are capable of!
  • Dissertation, The Final Hour: This super-speed video of a dissertation writer putting the final touches on his project is a great glimpse into what the end stages of dissertation writing are like.
  • Dissertation Blues: Feeling low? Check out this great description of one person’s dissertation writing process set to original music.

Also, don’t forget to check out the multiple dissertation defense videos that are floating around YouTube for tips about how to conduct your own final presentation.

Do you know of any other must-see dissertation YouTube videos?
